DeWitt, N.Y. -- A Solvay man was arrested Monday after police identified him as the suspect in two robberies in DeWitt.
Isaiah Richardson, 25, was walking on Park Avenue in Syracuse with a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun when he was arrested Monday, according to a news release from DeWitt police.
Richardson had been identified as the suspect in two robberies that occurred two days apart in August, police said.
On Aug. 10 around 2:40 a.m., police received reports of an armed robbery at the Speedway, 357 Nottingham Rd., police said. A man with a hooded sweatshirt and a face covering entered the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, they said.
The clerk gave the man the money before he fled the store on foot, police said.
Two days later around 9:30 a.m., the Key Bank, 215 Tecumseh Rd., was also robbed, police said. A man with a hooded sweatshirt and a face covering handed the teller a note demanding money, police said.
The suspect did not display a weapon, they said. the man took the money and fled on foot.
While investigating the robberies, Police identified Richardson as the suspect in both crimes, they said.
Richardson has been charged with the following.
Richardson was taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center where he is being held on bail of $50,000 cash and $100,000 bond.
